El Mirador

Hilltop restaurant with views over the valley and solid Honduran regional cooking

El Mirador sits on the eastern edge of town, up the hill from the centre, and earns its name with panoramic views over the Santa Rosa valley. The outdoor terrace is the place to be in the late afternoon when the light softens and the surrounding mountains turn blue.

The menu leans on Honduran regional cooking — grilled beef, plato tipico with beans, plantains, and fresh cheese, and good soups. Nothing fancy, but the ingredients are fresh and the portions generous. The location alone makes it worth the short uphill walk or tuk-tuk ride from the centre.
