The Cuevas de Mantetzulel are a set of limestone caves reached from the Teenek community of Mantetzulel, a short drive from Aquismon. Local guides lead visitors through chambers with collapsed ceilings, shafts of sunlight, stalactites, and rock forms that locals read as animals, saints, and old stories.
This is as much a community visit as a cave visit. Register locally, take a guide, and wear shoes that can handle wet stone and forest paths. Some chambers are easy, while others are better left to people comfortable with scrambling and tight spaces.
