Bahia de Loreto National Park

Protected Sea of Cortez park of islands, reefs, dolphins, sea lions, and seasonal whales.

Bahia de Loreto National Park protects the water and islands off Loreto, part of the wider Islands and Protected Areas of the Gulf of California UNESCO World Heritage Site. For travellers, it is the main reason to linger: kayaking, snorkeling, diving, sport fishing, whale watching, and boat trips all start from town.

The park is large, so the exact experience depends on weather, season, and operator. In winter and spring, whale and dolphin sightings are the headline; on calmer days, the islands and reefs are the draw.
