The Tecate Brewery is the obvious first stop in town. The brand began here in the 1940s, and the brewery still gives Tecate a stronger identity than most border towns of its size. Tours, when running, explain the industrial side of the beer rather than pretending it is a small craft operation.
Even if you only see it from outside, the brewery helps explain the city. Tecate grew around farming, water, cross-border industry, and the road between Tijuana and Mexicali; beer turned that practical history into a name recognised across Mexico and the United States.
