This compact museum is more useful than its size suggests. Its local collection grows from the masks made for Bernal's annual May festivities, while the wider collection shows masks from Mexico and other parts of the world.
It is best seen as context for the village rather than as a major museum. Visit before or after the Peña so the ritual side of the rock makes more sense.
