The regional botanical garden is Cadereyta's most distinctive stop. It is less a decorative park than an introduction to the Queretaro-Hidalgo semi-desert, with cacti, agaves, and other tough plants presented as living ecology rather than background scenery.
Take a guided visit if one is available. The garden makes much more sense when someone explains how these plants store water, flower, and survive long dry seasons.
