The parish of San Antonio de Padua and the adjoining former convent are the main historic buildings in central Calpulalpan. The church dates from the Spanish colonial period, with later changes to its altar and interior, and the convent recalls the Franciscan presence that shaped the town after the conquest.
It is not a destination on the scale of Mexico's great monastic complexes, but it is the right place to start a short walk through the centre before heading out to Tecoaque.
