Punta Laguna Nature Reserve

Punta Laguna is a community-run nature reserve north of Cobá, known for guided walks in forest where spider monkeys and howler monkeys live around the lake. Visits often combine forest trails with canoeing, zip lines, or a cenote rappel, depending on the guide and the season.

It is close enough to Cobá to make a strong ruins-and-forest day, but it is not a place to rush through without a local guide.
