Yohualichan

Totonac archaeological site with pyramids, ball courts, niches, and mountain views near Cuetzalan.

Yohualichan is the strongest excursion from Cuetzalan, a Totonac site on a green ridge north of town. The pyramids are smaller than those at El Tajin, but the family resemblance is clear in the niches and stonework.

The site is easy to understand in a short visit: ceremonial platforms, a ball court, and open views back into the Sierra Norte. It gives Cuetzalan historical depth, so try not to leave it as an afterthought.
