The Parroquia de la Asunción de María anchors the old centre of Ixtapan de la Sal. It is a modest colonial church rather than a blockbuster, but it gives the town its best urban scene: church, town hall, plaza, and everyday life moving around them.
Come early or late in the day, when the streets are cooler and the plaza has more local rhythm than sightseeing bustle.
