Janitzio is the most visited island in Lake Pátzcuaro, reached by regular boats from the town pier. A steep lane climbs through souvenir stalls and food stands to the huge Morelos statue at the top, where views stretch across the lake and surrounding villages.
The island is touristy, especially around Day of the Dead, but it still matters culturally. Go early if you want space, and be realistic about the climb: it is short but steep.
