Uaymitún is a simple stop on the coastal road rather than a polished nature reserve. If conditions are right, flamingos feed in the shallow water beyond the village, giving you a taste of Yucatán's birdlife without the longer run to Celestún or Río Lagartos.
Do not make this the whole plan. Treat it as an easy add-on when driving to Xcambó or Chicxulub.
