Valle de los Gigantes is the strongest inland trip from San Felipe: a desert plain where giant cardón cacti rise higher than many trees. Some are centuries old, and the scale is hard to grasp until you stand beside one.
The reserve is close enough for an easy half-day by car, but it feels far from the seafood stalls and beach traffic in town. Go early or late for softer light and less heat.
