Don Pedro's

Don Pedro's is the beach restaurant that everyone in Sayulita eventually ends up at for a long lunch. It sits under a vast thatched palapa directly on the sand, with tables that look out over the main beach toward the break. The setting alone would make it worth visiting; the food makes the visit worthwhile.

The menu runs toward Mediterranean-influenced dishes with strong Mexican ingredients — good grilled fish, wood-fired pizzas, and a wine list that's unusually thoughtful for a beach town of this size. The brick oven pizza has been a staple since the restaurant opened, and the fresh seafood dishes change with what's available. Service is unhurried by design. This is not the place to eat before a surf lesson; it's the place to eat after, when you have nowhere else to be.

Don Pedro's is on Calle Marlín at the south end of the beach. Prices are higher than most places in town, reflecting the location and the quality. Worth it for a proper sit-down meal with a view.
