Salto del Nogal is the big outdoor prize near Tapalpa. At roughly 105 metres, it is usually described as the tallest waterfall in Jalisco, dropping into a steep canyon south of town.
This is not a quick photo stop. The route down and back is hot, steep, and tiring, especially on the climb out, so start early, carry water, and avoid treating it as a casual town walk. In the rainy season the surrounding forest is greener, but paths can also be slick.
