Taxidho is the more natural counterpoint to the big water parks. Warm mineral springs feed pools in a semi-desert canyon setting, with cliffs and scrubby hills giving the place a stronger sense of escape.
It takes more effort than the pools close to town, but that is why it is worth considering. Bring cash, water, and realistic expectations about rural facilities.
