Tenosique's malecón is the easiest place to get a feel for the town. The riverfront walk has murals, views over the Usumacinta, and the usual oversized town letters for photos.
Small boats can sometimes be hired for a ride on the river. Otherwise, come in the cooler part of the day and use it as a gentle stroll before dinner in the centre.
