Tepic's cathedral anchors the historic centre with twin neo-Gothic towers and a broad plaza in front. The present building dates mainly from the late 19th century, replacing an older colonial church on the same central site.
The cathedral is more useful as a landmark and meeting point than as a reason to cross Mexico, but it gives the centre its shape. Come in the late afternoon, when the plaza starts to fill and the towers catch warmer light.
