Pacific Beaches

The beaches outside Todos Santos are among the most unspoiled on the Baja peninsula. Unlike the sheltered Sea of Cortez beaches further north, these face the open Pacific and carry powerful swells that make them some of the best surf breaks in Mexico. La Pastora, San Pedrito, and Cerritos are the main surf spots, each with its own character and difficulty level.

Non-surfers should know: these beaches are wild and the currents are strong. Swimming is possible at Cerritos, the most protected of the main beaches, but check conditions before getting in the water. The payoff is miles of wide, dark-sand beach shared with a few dozen people at most, pelicans cruising the break, and sunsets that last an hour. Bring everything you need — food, water, sunscreen — as facilities are minimal away from the town itself.
