El Camello Jr.

No-frills seafood marisquería on the pueblo highway

El Camello — "the little camel" — is the busiest marisquería in the pueblo, a large open-fronted dining room on the main highway where fishermen and families pile in at lunchtime. The menu is built around what comes in off the boats that morning: ceviche by the small or large bowl, grilled whole fish, octopus with garlic, shrimp every way they can think of.

The portions are generous, the prices reasonable, and the kitchen has no time for fashion. The agua de jamaica (hibiscus iced water) is excellent; the salsa pico arrives the moment you sit down. There is no reservation — turn up just before noon or after 2pm to avoid the worst of the queue.
