Tuxpan Beach

Long Gulf beach east of town, lined with casual seafood places and open sand.

Tuxpan Beach is the city's main escape hatch: a broad, sandy Gulf coast reached by road from the centre. It is more local than glossy, with palapas, seafood lunches, and enough room to find a quieter stretch if you keep moving along the barrier island.

Come for swimming when the sea is calm, or simply for a slow afternoon of fish, beer, and a sunset over the low coast. The industrial horizon is part of the view, so do not expect a pristine postcard beach.
