Santuario de Santa Maria Ahuacatlan

17th-century chapel known for its revered Black Christ image.

Address Ameyal 101, Valle de Bravo

The Santuario de Santa Maria Ahuacatlan is a small 17th-century church best known for its Cristo Negro, a darkened figure of Christ surrounded by local devotion. The side chapel is filled with notes of thanks from people who came here to pray.

Even if you are not religious, it is worth a short visit for the atmosphere. It is quieter than the waterfront and says more about the town than another lake-view restaurant.
