Comedor Lucía

Comedor Lucía is the kind of place León does best — a family-run lunch spot serving simple Nicaraguan food at prices that feel almost offensively cheap. The menu changes daily but typically features two or three options: rice and beans, a stewed meat, a fried protein, and whatever vegetable is available. The soup is always good.

You eat at shared tables and you will likely be eating alongside students, market workers, and bus drivers. The food is nothing spectacular but it is honest and filling, and the complete lunch for under two dollars makes it one of the best-value meals in Nicaragua. Look for places like this on the streets around the Mercado Central — they do not advertise.
