Hospital Point is widely regarded as the best snorkelling and diving site in the Bocas del Toro archipelago, a submerged coral garden just off the southern tip of Isla Colón accessible by water taxi or kayak from Bocas Town. The reef drops from a shallow coral plateau into deeper water, supporting an extraordinary density of fish — parrotfish, angelfish, spotted eagle rays, nurse sharks, and large sea turtles are all regularly seen here.
The point takes its name from a United Fruit Company hospital that once stood on the bluff above the reef during the banana era of the early 20th century. Visibility is best during the dry season (September–October and February–April), when it regularly exceeds 20 metres. Most dive operators in Bocas Town include Hospital Point on their standard snorkel and dive tours, and it's reachable independently by kayak in calm conditions — though the currents can be strong on the outer side of the point.
