Guilarte State Forest protects some of the high, wet country around Monte Guilarte, one of Puerto Rico's highest peaks. Trails climb through dense green forest where the temperature can feel startlingly cool by island standards. Go for the hiking and birdlife, but leave extra time for the mountain roads.
