The Arecibo Lighthouse, also known as the Faro de Arecibo, sits on a rocky headland at the northern edge of the city and has guided ships through the Mona Passage for over a century. The lighthouse itself is still operational; the surrounding historical park has been built up around it over the years.
The park includes a small aquarium, a replica of a Columbus-era vessel, playground areas, and coastal walking paths along the clifftop. The views from the headland are the main draw — clear-day panoramas stretching east and west along the rocky north coast, with the ocean below and the karst hills of the interior behind. It is popular with Puerto Rican families on weekends and a pleasant stop for anyone exploring the coast between Arecibo and the Camuy caves.
