Boquerón Beach

Long public beach in a fishing village on Boquerón Bay, popular with Puerto Ricans

Boquerón is a small fishing village on a sheltered bay at the northern end of the Cabo Rojo peninsula, and its long calm beach is one of the most popular in western Puerto Rico. The bay is protected, so the water is flat and ideal for families; the village behind the beach has good seafood restaurants, bars, and a lively weekend atmosphere.

The beach is a public balneario — a maintained public beach with lifeguards, changing rooms, and parking. Seafood kiosks along the waterfront sell fresh oysters and fried fish. It is noticeably less polished and less tourist-oriented than the resort beaches on the north coast, which is most of its appeal.
