Despite its name (which translates literally as "dirty beach"), Playa Sucia is one of Puerto Rico's most beautiful stretches of sand — a remote crescent of turquoise water enclosed by limestone cliffs, with the lighthouse visible on the headland above. It is wild and undeveloped, accessible via a rough road through the salt flats.
The water is clear and calm in the sheltered cove, good for swimming. The reef just offshore is worth snorkelling if you have gear. The beach can be crowded on summer weekends; arrive early or come on a weekday. There are no facilities — bring everything you need.
