Canouan's central hills rise steeply from the shore and can be walked in an hour or two from Charlestown. The ridgeline offers panoramic views across the island chain — Mustique to the north, the Tobago Cays to the south, and on a clear day the outline of Union Island and Carriacou beyond. The vegetation is dry scrub and cactus rather than tropical forest, which keeps the views open.
There is no marked trail, but the terrain is not difficult. Locals can point you toward the best route up from the village. Early morning is the best time — both for the light and to avoid the heat of the day.
