Charlestown

The island's fishing village and natural harbour

Charlestown is the small village on the southern half of the island, clustered around a sheltered natural harbour. This is where the local population lives, away from the resort development to the north, and it has the easygoing character of a working Grenadine community. Fishing boats tie up at the dock, the rum shop stays open late, and life moves at the island's natural pace.

The harbour itself is the arrival point for water taxis and small ferries from St. Vincent and Bequia. The beach near the village is quieter than the resort beaches and usually has the water to yourself.
