The Flamingo Pond Overlook is a viewing platform above a large shallow pond on the interior of North Caicos where a flock of West Indian flamingos feeds in the shallows. The flamingos are present year-round, though their numbers vary — you might see a dozen or several hundred depending on the season and conditions. The pond's pink tint from the algae the birds feed on is visible from the overlook even before you spot the birds themselves.
The overlook is easily reached by road and is one of the easiest places in the entire Turks and Caicos to observe flamingos in the wild. The birds are not bothered by observers on the platform but would flush if approached on foot. A pair of binoculars makes the visit considerably better. The drive to the overlook passes through typical North Caicos inland landscape — lusher and greener than the other islands, with forest and grassland rather than bare limestone scrub.
