This restored log cabin was the boyhood home of W.C. Handy, the composer known as the "Father of the Blues." The museum houses a lifetime of memorabilia including his trumpet and the piano on which he composed "St. Louis Blues" and "Memphis Blues." The collection includes original manuscripts, personal belongings, and materials documenting Handy's life and influence on American music.
The museum plays an important part in the annual W.C. Handy Music Festival each July and hosts a birthday celebration for Handy in November.
