Ivy Green is the birthplace of Helen Keller. Built in 1820, the simple white clapboard home is where Keller was born in 1880 and where, at age six, her teacher Anne Sullivan broke through by holding her hands in running water while tapping the alphabet code for "water" on her palm.

The house and grounds are beautifully maintained. An excellent time to visit is the last week of June during the annual Helen Keller Festival, when "The Miracle Worker" is performed outdoors on the grounds.

Adults $6, students (5-18) $2, seniors and AAA members $5. Last tour starts at 3:45pm daily. Closed most holidays.
