The Rattlesnake Saloon is built into a large natural cave in a hillside north of Tuscumbia, accessible by a shuttle from a parking area at the bottom of the hill. It serves burgers and cold beer in a genuinely unusual setting: the cave ceiling rises high overhead, the temperature is consistently cool regardless of the Alabama summer outside, and the whole arrangement is decidedly informal.
It is a favourite with locals and something of a curiosity destination — not fine dining, but genuinely fun for what it is. Live music on weekends. The cave's atmosphere alone is worth the trip. Open Thursday through Sunday; closed Monday through Wednesday.
