Skagway Museum and Archives

Local museum covering Skagway’s Tlingit roots, gold-rush boom, and frontier years

Skagway Museum and Archives gives the town a longer story than the cruise-ship storefronts suggest. Its collection covers Tlingit history, the Klondike Gold Rush, early civic life, and the rough decades when Skagway was a gateway to the Yukon.

It is a sensible first stop before walking Broadway or riding the White Pass railway, because it separates the real boomtown from the theatrical version outside. The museum is small, but the photographs, tools, documents, and local artefacts make the surrounding streets easier to read.
