Skagway Overlook gives you the classic orientation shot: the tight town grid, cruise docks, mountains, and the long reach of Lynn Canal all in one frame. It is a simple stop, but a useful one in a place where geography explains the town's gold-rush role.
Come early or late for softer light and fewer buses. The overlook is not a substitute for the Chilkoot Trail or the White Pass railway, but it is an easy way to understand why Skagway became the funnel into the interior.
