Wahweap Marina

Wahweap Marina, about 8 kilometres north of Page, is the main gateway for water-based access to Lake Powell. The marina offers boat and houseboat rentals, kayak hire, and guided tours including the full-day trip to Rainbow Bridge National Monument. It's operated by Aramark under concession from the National Park Service.

The lakeside setting — the characteristic red canyon walls rising directly from the water, the houseboats clustered at their moorings — is striking regardless of water level. Even if you're not renting a boat, the viewpoint from the marina gives a good sense of the lake's scale and the canyon landscape it occupies.

A story
Wahweap — a Paiute word meaning "alkaline seep" — was the site of a small community of people living off the land and doing odd jobs before the dam's construction. When the Bureau of Reclamation arrived in the 1950s, they were displaced to make way for the construction camp that would become the main marina complex.
