Desert Caballeros Western Museum

Wickenburg's standout cultural attraction, billing itself as Arizona's most Western museum and largely living up to it. The collection covers Western American art from the 19th century to the present — paintings, bronze sculpture, and mixed media — alongside a strong regional history section covering the Hassayampa Valley from prehistoric times through the gold rush.

The Street of Yesterday exhibit recreates a late-19th-century Wickenburg streetscape with a saloon, general store, and assay office. At 21 North Frontier Street, open Monday to Saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday noon to 4:00 pm (closed Mondays in July and August).

A story
The museum's collection began as a personal hoard of Western art assembled by a local ranching family in the 1950s. The building was purpose-built to hold it, and the collection has grown into one of the most comprehensive surveys of Western American art in the state, with work spanning from Frederic Remington's bronze era to contemporary Western realism.
