Brigham City was founded by Latter-day Saint settlers in 1876 and abandoned in 1881 after repeated flooding. The remains, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, include partially restored structures that show how fragile desert settlement could be.
It is close enough to Winslow to make a short historical detour, especially if you are already visiting Homolovi State Park or following Route 66 through town.
