The Hot Springs barbecue institution — open since 1928, family-run, and one of Bill Clinton's favourite places to eat when he was governor and after. The signature is the Tamale Spread: chili, tamales, beans, chopped beef, Fritos, and cheese piled on a plate. Ribs and chopped pork sandwiches are the other standards.
The dining room is plain, the service brisk, and there's almost always a line at lunch. Cash and cards both work now, but the place still feels like 1955 inside. Closed Sunday and Monday.
