Housed in the 1879 Offenhauser Building — the oldest brick building in town — the Museum of Regional History covers the four-state corner where Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma meet. Exhibits run from Caddo pottery and early railroad days through Scott Joplin, the 1946 Phantom Killer murders, and Texarkana's bizarre status as a city in two states.
It is small and idiosyncratic in the way regional museums often are, with the charm and the occasional dusty corner that implies. Allow an hour. The basement gallery has rotating shows from local artists; the gift shop sells the only Phantom-themed merchandise that is not embarrassing.
