A small painted circle on the pavement of State Line Avenue, directly in front of the federal courthouse, marks the spot known locally as Photographers Island. Stand with one foot on either side of the line and you are simultaneously in Texas and Arkansas — the city's signature photograph.
The marker is reinforced with a low concrete curb so that drivers swerve around it, and a metal post explains the geography for the puzzled. Traffic is light enough on the side streets that posing is safe in daylight; do not attempt it after a high school football game.
