Los Vaqueros Reservoir is a large protected watershed north of Livermore and south of Brentwood, with open hills, lake views, and a network of trails around the water. The reservoir itself is working infrastructure, but the surrounding open space is the reason to come.
Visitors use the area for hiking, fishing, birdwatching, and quiet views over the Diablo Range foothills. Check conditions before going, as parts of the watershed can close for wildlife protection, fire risk, or maintenance.
