Old Faithful Geyser of California

Address 1299 Tubbs Lane, Calistoga, CA 94515

One of only a handful of geysers in the world with a reliably predictable eruption cycle, the Old Faithful Geyser of California shoots a column of 135-degree water roughly 18 metres into the air at intervals of about 30 minutes. The geyser taps into the same geothermal system that feeds Calistoga's famous hot springs, and the eruptions are a satisfying spectacle even on a cool day, with billowing clouds of steam rising from the hillside.

The site is privately owned and well kept, with a small farm area and gardens. Fainting goats — a genuine curiosity — share the grounds. Allow about 45 minutes to an hour to walk the paths, watch an eruption, and look around. Located about two kilometres north of town on Tubbs Lane.
