Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park

Accessible redwood park with an old-growth grove minutes from Felton.

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is the reason most travellers pause in Felton. The main redwood grove is easy to reach, with a loop trail under enormous coast redwoods and interpretive signs that explain the forest without turning the walk into homework.

The park is more than the famous grove. Trails reach riverbanks, sandy hills, and mixed forest, so it works for a short family stroll or a half-day walk. It is especially good if you want the redwood feeling but do not have time for Big Basin or the North Coast.

A story
The park protects a grove where some coast redwoods are well over a thousand years old. That makes it one of the easiest places near Santa Cruz to stand among genuinely ancient trees without planning a long expedition.
