OstrichLand USA is an ostrich and emu farm on Highway 246 between Solvang and Buellton, where visitors can get up close to some of the largest and most disconcerting birds in the world. The farm offers feeding sessions: you purchase a bowl of feed and attempt to give it to ostriches who are more aggressive and faster than you expect.
Ostriches can be alarming at close range. They are tall, powerful, and not particularly respectful of personal space. The experience is genuinely funny and surprisingly memorable, particularly with children. The farm also sells ostrich eggs, ostrich burgers, and other ostrich-derived products.
It's a roadside attraction in the classic American sense — slightly absurd, low-key, and enjoyable. Worth a stop if you're driving between Solvang and the coast. 610 E Highway 246, Buellton (between Solvang and Buellton).
