Del Oro Theatre

The Del Oro Theatre on Mill Street is Grass Valley's 1930s Art Deco cinema, topped by a neon spire that has become one of the town's most recognisable landmarks. It still operates as a working cinema showing current films alongside classic screenings, and is well-maintained with its original period interior largely intact.

Catching a film here is worth doing on its own terms: the combination of Deco details, the neon glow on a dark evening, and the fact that this is a community cinema in a small Gold Rush town rather than a multiplex gives the whole experience an unironic charm. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
