Draper Street is Kingsburg's main commercial strip and the centre of its Swedish heritage identity. The buildings along the street have been given Swedish architectural styling — half-timbered facades, steeply pitched roofs, and Scandinavian colour schemes in red, white, and blue. Some of the detailing is historically approximate, but the overall effect gives the street a distinctive character unlike anything else in the San Joaquin Valley.
Several of the businesses lean into the theme: Swedish-themed shops, Scandinavian craft stores, and bakeries sell traditional Swedish pastries and coffee. The annual Swedish Festival in May turns the whole street into a celebration, with folk dancing, traditional costumes, and food stalls. Outside festival season the street is quiet and local, which has its own appeal.
