Griffith Park

Vast urban park with observatory, zoo, and Hollywood Sign trails

The largest urban park in the United States — 4,310 acres of chaparral-covered hills rising above Hollywood and Los Feliz. The park contains the Griffith Observatory (free entry, spectacular city views), the Los Angeles Zoo, the Greek Theatre, and a network of hiking trails ranging from easy walks to steep ridge climbs. On a clear day, the view from the Observatory deck stretches to the Pacific. Take the trail up to the base of the Hollywood Sign if you want to earn your bragging rights.
