For nearly twenty years iO West was the LA outpost of Chicago's legendary improv theatre, running nightly long-form shows and serving as a training ground for a generation of comics — many of whom went on to Saturday Night Live and the writers' rooms of late-night television. The Hollywood Boulevard theatre closed in 2018, but the building and its plaque remain a landmark for anyone tracing the city's comedy history.
